I haven't written much lately...

Things have been pretty busy lately, I shot portraits for a local group home last week. It was such a rewarding experience, I would love to post some but feel I should protect the rights of the individuals there, so I won't. Big News this week is that one of my photo's is being highlighted at awesome photographs!!! ( A simple Dress ) I have attached a link to the site if you would like to visit! The site was put together by Jim Cook an amazing Photographer from Kentucky!!! I am also trying to put together an Art piece for Carpe Mammae-A Breast Cancer benefit!! The benefit takes place August 12th, at First Avenue nite club!!! I am donating a piece for a silent auction to be held at the benefit!! It's so exciting!!

WOW!! Fireworks!!

These are not photoshopped!! I only framed them because, they asked for it!!! I love it when things like this happen!! Out of about 100 or so shots these are a few of my favorite!

So, Fireworks from Tuesday! Had a blast, I am having a hard time deciding which to post, I love em all!! It was too fun!! I shot well over 100, here's top 5 so far...

You really do get what you pay for...

So, today I was looking at other local photographer's sites to get inspired! (something I do alot!) and came across one that on first glance thought was nice, I opened it up and went through the site! There were only about a half dozen photo's, but they were great shot's! I read the bio, and then went to the pricing page! OUCH, this person was charging less than half of what I charge, OMG! So I freaked out a little, and then went back to gallery; there was a little button that said ( to see more of my work) and I clicked on it. It brought me to a page with about 50 shots on it, so I ran the slideshow to see all. There was not one more picture in the whole slideshow that was even close to being acceptable! The majority of them were out of focus, and even worse they had cut off limb's, there were trees coming out of subjects heads, some were under exposed. Enough ranting, It brings me to my point, in Photography, like in everything else in life, you get what you pay for! Yes, there were a few great shots on the site, (but even uncle Joe gets lucky sometimes!!) If you are looking for consistently great shots you need to hire a professional, it may cost more, but in the long run is soooo worth it! My advise? Figure out what you can afford, generally people spend about 10% of total wedding cost's on photography. When searching for a photographer, make sure that their work is consistent, not all shots are going to be award worthy!!, but they should be exposed correctly and framed properly! i.e. no branches coming out of heads, etc. Look at all of the photographers in your price range, and figure out what style you like, whether it's photojournalistic or traditional etc. and than make an informed decision, There are a lot of great photographers available! Once you find that perfect match, secure the date with the downpayment and contract, and remember, until you have signed and payed, your photographer is free to fill the dates.

what a week!

I finally figured out how to link to my site and osp! yeah! It seriously doesn't take much to please me. I have been working pretty hard lately to try and get my name out there. It's not easy with limited advertising dollars. Tomorrow I am working at the college for the college, it's not a bad gig, and I can use the cash! I have a couple of seniors lined up! but could definately use some more!! :) Sunday, I think I'm gonna go out and shoot for a while, it would be fun if I could get some more shooters to go out with me! Any body up for it?
